Customs Teams Seize Nearly 70,000 Kilograms of Smuggled Goods in Four Provinces
The Ministry of Finance announced that mobile surveillance teams from the General Directorate of Customs intercepted approximately 69,567 kilograms of smuggled commercial goods across four provinces during a two-week enforcement period. The coordinated operations targeted unauthorized transit routes and resulted in the apprehension of multiple suspects.
According to the ministry’s official report, the seizures were conducted in Kandahar, Nimroz, Nangarhar, and Helmand. Customs personnel identified and secured a diverse inventory of merchandise that had entered the country without proper documentation or payment of applicable duties. The ministry stated that the recovered cargo represents a significant volume of contraband that would have otherwise bypassed national regulatory frameworks.
The enforcement initiative was carried out by specialized customs units tasked with monitoring cross-border commercial traffic. Ministry representatives confirmed that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to secure provincial transit corridors and ensure compliance with national import regulations.
All confiscated items and detained individuals have been formally handed over to judicial and customs authorities for further legal processing. Officials indicated that standard investigative procedures will be followed to establish the origins of the goods and determine appropriate administrative or criminal penalties. The ministry reiterated its commitment to strengthening border oversight and deploying mobile inspection units to curb illicit trade activities nationwide.
