The Counter-Narcotics Department under the Daikundi Provincial Police Command has gathered 137 individuals struggling with drug addiction from different districts across the province during the last three months.

These individuals have been moved to a facility with 200 beds dedicated to their treatment and support.

According to Ghulam Ali Jawid, who serves as the media official for the Daikundi Provincial Police Command, each addict received an assessment before being directed to a specialized treatment facility where they received medical care. Following this process, they were then handed over to their respective families.

Separately, law enforcement detained 22 people suspected of involvement in buying and selling narcotics. The cases of these suspects have now been forwarded to the appropriate judicial and prosecutorial bodies for further action.

Jawid noted that operations aimed at addressing narcotics issues, including the collection of addicts and their subsequent treatment, are set to continue in Daikundi province. The goal of these ongoing activities is to reach a point where society is free from drugs.

It was also mentioned that 20 drug addicts had been sent to treatment centers in the area at an earlier time.
