JOWZJAN, Afghanistan -- Mullah Mohammad Israel, Director General of Hydrocarbons at the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, visited ongoing gas well activities in the Yatim Taq area of Jowzjan province.

Israel stated that drilling of well number two is currently underway in the area.

He added that drilling of additional wells will soon begin.

Upon completion, the new wells aim to achieve gas extraction of about 1.25 million cubic meters per day, according to Israel.

Officials of the contracting company for the Yatim Taq gas field presented detailed updates on their progress to the ministry delegation during the visit.
