Fifteen New Historical Monuments Registered in Afghanistan During 1404 Solar Year
The Ministry of Information and Culture of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan announced that fifteen new historical monuments were officially registered nationwide during the 1404 solar year. According to a ministry statement, the registrations followed a comprehensive survey of approximately seventy historical sites across the country.
The ministry’s Historical Monuments Preservation Department coordinated the survey and registration process with the support of four national and international organizations. Officials stated that the collaborative efforts focused on the documentation, structural assessment, and long-term maintenance of the country’s cultural heritage.
In addition to the new registrations, the ministry reported the successful restoration of twenty-three historical monuments across nine provinces, including Kandahar, Bamyan, Ghazni, Kunar, Laghman, Paktia, Paktika, Helmand, and Kabul. Authorities noted that preservation and rehabilitation projects remain active in several other regions, with ongoing coordination between government departments and partner institutions to address structural vulnerabilities.
The 1404 solar year saw a concentrated push by cultural authorities to inventory and protect archaeological and architectural sites. Ministry officials emphasized that the newly registered monuments will be formally integrated into the national heritage registry, ensuring they receive dedicated conservation resources and legal protection moving forward. Further surveying and restoration initiatives are planned for the coming year as part of the ministry’s broader cultural preservation strategy.
