KUNAR, Afghanistan (Afghan Verified) -- A funeral ceremony took place in Kunar province for a female doctor and her four-year-old child, who were killed in a Pakistani airstrike on their vehicle in Kamdesh district of Nuristan province on the first day of Eid.

The vehicle fell into a river following the strike. Local residents and security forces recovered the bodies, which were then handed over to the family in Kunar.

The family of the victims called on the international community to hold Pakistan accountable for targeting Afghan civilians. The attack occurred one day after Pakistan agreed to a temporary ceasefire during the Eid holidays.

The Afghan Ministry of Defense issued a warning regarding the consequences of continued ceasefire violations by the Pakistani military.

Reliability assessment

Single source (Bakhtar News, Afghan state media) provides direct, concrete, checkable details including specific locations (Kunar, Nuristan, Kamdesh district), timing (first day of Eid), victim details (female doctor and child), incident mechanics (vehicle into river), and attributable statements (family appeal, Afghan MoD warning).

The source language mixes facts with framing or advocacy wording. Bakhtar News: "martyred" (religious/heroic framing instead of neutral 'killed'); "Pakistani military regime" (derogatory label implying illegitimacy); "victims of Pakistan's attacks" (emotional advocacy phrasing positioning Pakistan as aggressor).
