Herat province officials report that garlic has been cultivated on more than 240 hectares of land across various districts this year. The cultivation has benefited from suitable climate conditions and fertile lands, leading to good yields according to local farmers.

The Directorate of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock in Herat is working to facilitate the marketing of this domestic produce. At the same time, the directorate is taking steps to prevent imports of garlic, particularly during the harvesting period. These measures are designed to protect farmers from losses and to help them secure better prices for their crops.

Dr. Nasir Ahmad Qazi Zada, an official from the Directorate of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, stated that the organization is trying to prevent imports during the garlic harvesting period. The aim is to ensure good market prices for domestic products.

Farmers have expressed satisfaction with the current cultivation conditions. They note that the region's climate and soil have contributed to positive results this year.

To further support the sector, farmers and experts recommend the construction of cold storage facilities. These rooms would enable the storage of garlic for gradual release into the market. Such an approach could boost farmers' incomes and strengthen the agricultural economy in the province by reducing reliance on imported garlic.
