Iran's parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stated that Iranian armed forces are prepared for any US ground troop entry into Iranian territory amid escalating military tensions.

Ghalibaf claimed that former US President Donald Trump's plan to break Iran had failed, with Washington failing to achieve its strategic objectives despite fighting, economic pressure and escalation. He said the war had damaged major symbols of American military power and contributed to instability in global energy markets.

Ghalibaf accused the US of publicly pursuing diplomacy while privately preparing for military escalation. He referenced US reports indicating that the Pentagon is preparing contingency options for ground operations in Iran, including special operations and conventional infantry.

The speaker noted that the USS Tripoli and additional US Marines and sailors have arrived in the region as part of a reinforced US military posture.

Ghalibaf also mentioned that Pakistan, Turkey and Arab states have tried to encourage de-escalation, but those efforts are struggling.
