Islamic Emirate Defense Ministry says objectives of revenge operation against Pakistan achieved according to plan

KABUL (Afghan Verified) -- Afghanistan's Ministry of Defense announced that Islamic Emirate forces killed 55 Pakistani soldiers, captured two bases and 19 posts, and seized significant military equipment during a revenge operation launched late Saturday.

The operation targeted Pakistani military posts across the Durand Line near Paktika, Paktia, Khost, Nangarhar, Kunar and Nuristan provinces, the ministry said in a statement. It was in response to Pakistani airstrikes last Sunday on a school in Paktika province and a house in Behsud district of Nangarhar, which martyred 17 family members including women and children and wounded others.

Ministry of Defense spokesperson Enayatullah Khogyani said Afghan forces killed 55 Pakistani soldiers, with some bodies transferred into Afghanistan, others captured alive and many fleeing. Soldiers from four other posts fled, according to the statement. Forces seized dozens of light and heavy weapons, ammunition and equipment, destroyed one tank and captured one large military transport vehicle.

Eight Islamic Emirate fighters were killed and 11 wounded in the operation, the ministry said. Separately, 13 civilians, including women and children, were wounded in a Pakistani rocket attack on a migrant camp in Nangarhar.

"The set objectives for the operational units were achieved according to plan, and the war was halted at midnight by order of the Deputy Chief of General Staff," the statement said.
