Islamic Emirate Launches 880 Million Afghani Electricity Project in Sar-e-Pol Districts

The Islamic Emirate has officially launched an electricity infrastructure project in three districts of Sar-e-Pol province, marking a step toward expanding power access in the region. The initiative, valued at 880 million Afghanis, will target the Gosfandi, Sozma Qala, and Sang-e Charak districts.

According to officials present at the launch ceremony, the project is fully funded by the Islamic Emirate and will be executed by a private contracting firm. Construction is scheduled to span three years, with completion expected to bring reliable electricity to approximately 27,600 households across the targeted areas. Authorities noted that the development will also generate around 500 direct and indirect employment opportunities for local residents during the implementation phase.

The launch event was attended by senior provincial and national figures, including Minister of Water and Energy Mullah Mohammad Yousuf Akhundzada, Sar-e-Pol Governor Mawlawi Ahmad Shah Dindost, and Provincial Police Commander Mullah Nik Mohammad Malang. During the ceremony, officials emphasized the administration’s focus on expanding essential services and supporting rural infrastructure development.

The project aims to address longstanding energy shortages in the region, which have historically impacted both residential living standards and local economic activity. Once operational, the new power network will integrate with existing provincial grids to ensure stable distribution. Local authorities have indicated that regular progress updates will be provided as construction advances over the three-year timeline.
