Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Responds to 2026 Global Terrorism Index Report
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has issued an official statement addressing the findings of the 2026 Global Terrorism Index. While the report ranks the country eleventh globally in terms of terrorism impact, with Pakistan placed first, authorities emphasized a marked decline in domestic insecurity over recent years.
In the statement, officials attributed the reduction in violence to the effective management of security forces and the implementation of targeted counterterrorism measures. The administration noted that the stabilization of security conditions has created a more predictable environment for economic activity. According to the statement, these improvements are facilitating infrastructure development, attracting foreign and domestic investment, and supporting broader economic recovery efforts.
The response also highlighted the Islamic Emirate’s commitment to regional security cooperation. Officials stated that maintaining internal stability remains a priority and that ongoing security operations are designed to prevent the resurgence of armed groups. The administration reiterated its pledge to uphold international and regional security commitments while focusing on national reconstruction.
The 2026 Global Terrorism Index, which assesses the impact of terrorism across multiple countries, serves as a benchmark for global security trends. The Islamic Emirate’s statement framed the report’s eleventh-place ranking as inconsistent with current ground realities, pointing instead to the absence of large-scale armed conflict and the consolidation of state security control. Authorities indicated that continued security management and economic development initiatives will remain central to the administration’s policy framework.
