Islamic Emirate Reports Civilian Killed, Woman Wounded in Pakistani Fire in Kunar
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) reported that Pakistani forces opened fire on civilians in the eastern Kunar and southeastern Paktika provinces on Sunday.
Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for the IEA, stated in a post on X that Pakistani forces fired mortar rounds at around 9:30 a.m. on the Shanpat area of Naray district in Kunar province. According to Fitrat, one civilian was killed and a woman was wounded in the attack.
Fitrat also said Pakistani forces fired on a civilian vehicle in the Shkin district of Paktika province, though no casualties were reported from that incident.
The incidents occurred despite a ceasefire announced by Afghanistan and Pakistan on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
The IEA claims that Pakistani forces have repeatedly violated the ceasefire and carried out attacks in Kunar and Nuristan provinces during the Eid period, resulting in civilian casualties.
