The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has signed two contracts with private companies for resource extraction and industrial development.
In Khost province's Shamal district, a five-year gold mining contract was signed. It is valued at more than 802 million afghanis, granting the Islamic Emirate a 60 percent share.
In Samangan province's Firoz Nakhchir district, specifically in Ibek, a 30-year contract for a cement factory was agreed upon. The factory is expected to produce 1,200 tons daily, with an investment of 67 million dollars, and it will generate approximately 600 jobs.
Humayun Afghan, the spokesperson for the ministry, confirmed the terms of the cement contract.
Analysts have expressed support for these projects due to their potential to boost the economy. However, they have called for the use of sustainable and standardized techniques in mining operations.
