
Maidan Wardak Team Wins Five-Province Under-14 Football Tournament in Logar
A five-day under-14 football tournament involving teams from five provinces concluded in Pul-e-Alam, the administrative center of Logar province. The competition brought together youth athletes from across the region to compete in a series of matches aimed at promoting local sports development.
The Omid Watan team from Maidan Wardak secured first place after accumulating eight points throughout the tournament. The squad finished ahead of the Laghman youth team, which placed second in the final standings. The event was coordinated by the Logar Directorate of Physical Education and Sports in cooperation with the national Football Federation.
Muzammil Naimzai, the director of physical education and sports for Logar province, provided details on the competition’s structure and outcomes. He confirmed that participating teams represented Laghman, Paktia, Maidan Wardak, Khost, and Logar. Naimzai stated that the tournament was specifically designed to identify and develop youth athletic talent while encouraging sportsmanship among young players.
Provincial sports officials noted that regional competitions of this nature serve to foster community engagement and provide structured athletic opportunities for younger generations. The conclusion of the five-day event highlights ongoing efforts by local authorities to expand grassroots football programs and maintain competitive youth leagues across the region.
