The Ministry of Commanding Right and Forbidding Wrong and Hearing Complaints has expanded the oversight of its muhtasibs on markets and commercial centers across Afghanistan coinciding with the approach of Eid al-Fitr.

Mawlawi Saif al-Islam Khyber, spokesperson for the ministry, said the aim is to ensure compliance with Islamic principles and rulings in commercial transactions and to prevent overpricing and hoarding.

Khyber urged traders and sellers to uphold honesty, fairness and Sharia standards in dealings and to avoid exploiting people's needs, particularly during the Eid period.

Ministry officials stated that during these inspections, muhtasibs have closed dozens of shops and commercial markets for selling low-quality goods, expired items and overpriced products. The owners have been referred to judicial and legal institutions for further examination.

Citizens have welcomed the muhtasibs' activities and oversight, describing the ministry as one of the institutions that pays special attention to resolving public problems, improving market conditions and protecting consumer rights.
