More Than 200 Projects Implemented in Zabul at Cost of Nearly 6 Billion Afghanis

The head of development affairs in Zabul has provided details on the development activities carried out in the province over the past solar year. Engineer Abdul Majeed Amini stated that a total of 201 projects were successfully implemented in both the provincial center and outlying districts throughout solar year 1404.

These initiatives came with a substantial investment of nearly 6 billion Afghanis. Amini broke down the funding sources, explaining that the Islamic Emirate was responsible for projects valued at 5.6 billion Afghanis. Meanwhile, donor institutions contributed to projects amounting to 250 million Afghanis.

The scope of the work was broad and addressed several key areas of need. Construction projects focused on improving transportation networks through main roads, bridges, culverts and sub-roads. The education sector benefited from new school buildings while administrative capacity was strengthened with new government buildings. Structural projects such as retaining walls were completed to support land stability. Water management saw advancements with the building of canals and water supply networks. The projects also extended to the construction of mosques for the community and commercial markets designed to stimulate local economic activity.

Amini emphasized the importance of the employment generated by these activities. He noted that the various projects created short-term and long-term job opportunities for approximately 30,000 people living in the province.

Beyond infrastructure, support was extended to vulnerable populations in the form of humanitarian aid. More than 173,000 families from Kalat city and the province's districts were recipients of 3,679 metric tons of food items. These families also received cash support totaling 401 million Afghanis.
