National Procurement Commission Approves 17 Projects Worth Over 1 Billion Afghanis

KABUL (Afghan Verified) -- The National Procurement Commission, chaired by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the deputy prime minister for economic affairs, held a regular meeting on Wednesday and reviewed 42 projects.

The commission approved 17 projects valued at more than 1 billion Afghanis ($11.6 million). It also amended 14 projects and assigned committees for six projects to negotiate prices with winning companies.

Contracts for two projects were canceled because the winning companies were unwilling to complete them at the agreed prices. Those projects will be re-tendered, and the companies referred to the Deprivation Committee. Two other projects were put out for re-tendering due to company prices exceeding estimates. For one project, the relevant agency was tasked with re-evaluating companies and reporting back.

Among the approved and amended projects are a dormitory and lycee at Panjshir University, a medical faculty building at Badakhshan University, phases one and two of the Kunar-Nuristan road, hospitals in Giro district of Ghazni province, Bander district of Faryab province, and Spin Ghar district of Nangarhar province, as well as electricity supply and distribution projects in various provinces.

All projects are funded by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
