National Procurement Commission Approves 22 Projects Worth Approximately 10.2 Billion Afghanis

The National Procurement Commission, chaired by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, deputy prime minister for economic affairs, held its regular session at the Marble Palace.

In the meeting, 37 projects were presented for approval. After discussions, 22 projects worth approximately 10.2 billion Afghanis were approved, and adjustments were made to seven others.

For four projects, designated committees were tasked with negotiating prices with the winning companies and presenting a report to the commission leadership. Contracts for two projects were canceled because the winning companies refused to complete them at the set prices; these projects will be put out to open tender again.

One project was returned to open tender due to proposed prices exceeding the estimated cost. The relevant authority was directed to implement another project through a designated mixed committee. One company was referred to the disqualification committee over work violations and complaints from administrations.

The approved and adjusted projects include the second phase of the Qoshtepa Canal, construction of a terminal and parking facility at Ahmad Shah Baba International Airport in Kandahar, a passenger and cargo terminal in Farah center, 20 kilometers of road from Aibak to Roy Doab in Samangan province, public hospitals in Yawan district of Badakhshan, Dand Patan district of Paktia, and Gulran district of Herat, as well as completion of remaining electricity distribution and transmission projects in various provinces.

The approved projects are funded by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
