Nearly 900 Afghan Migrant Families Return from Pakistan and Iran

Nearly 900 Afghan migrant families returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan and Iran on Friday, according to official data released by the High Commission for Addressing Migrants' Issues. A total of 888 families crossed back into the country through several designated border points.

The returnees entered via Torkham, where 113 families were processed, followed by Spin Boldak with 62 families, Wreshmo with 80 families, Islam Qala with 28 families, and Baramcha with one family. Officials stated that the High Commission coordinated the reception process, providing returning families with registration guidance and information on available financial assistance. During the operation, staff distributed 846 SIM cards to facilitate communication for the returnees.

In addition to the family returns, authorities reported significant movement through the Nimroz province on the same day. A total of 4,673 migrants and 1,668 passengers crossed into Afghanistan via the Nimroz border crossing. The High Commission noted that its teams were deployed across multiple entry points to assist with documentation, provide logistical support, and ensure that returning individuals were connected with relevant aid programs.

The coordinated return operation highlights ongoing efforts to manage cross-border migration flows and support Afghan nationals repatriating from neighboring countries. Officials emphasized that registration and assistance services remain available at major border crossings to streamline the process for future returnees.
