GHAZNI, Afghanistan (Afghan Verified) -- Around 120,000 domestic tourists visited historical and recreational sites in Ghazni province during the Eid al-Fitr holidays, according to Mullah Hamidullah Nisar, head of the province's Information and Culture Department.

Nisar told reporters that visitors from various provinces flocked to attractions including Sultan Band, Sarda Band, recreational areas in Khwaja Omari district, shrines and other historical and natural landmarks over the past week. He said the tourism sector in Ghazni has seen notable growth, with tourist areas expanding to draw larger crowds.

The official attributed the surge in visitors to improved security across the country and strengthened bonds of brotherhood and unity among ethnic groups and the population. He added that local authorities have provided suitable facilities for tourists and are working to promote additional sites and develop the industry further.

One visitor from Uruzgan province, Jawed, expressed satisfaction with his trip, telling Pajhwok Afghan News that he had visited four provinces during the holidays but found Ghazni the most appealing due to its historical significance.

Ghazni is regarded as one of Afghanistan's key provinces for history and natural beauty, attracting large numbers of domestic tourists each year.
