Pakistan Army: 11 Security Forces Killed in Car Bomb Attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Bajaur
Pakistan's army announced that 11 security personnel were killed in a car bomb attack on a checkpoint in the Melangi area of Momand sub-district, Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, on Monday, 27 Dalu.
According to an army statement, the attackers rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the perimeter wall of the post during a moment of desperation, causing the checkpoint infrastructure to collapse and resulting in the deaths of the 11 personnel, described as "brave sons of the soil" who made the "ultimate sacrifice."
The army attributed the attack to members of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), though the group has not issued any statement on the incident.
Prior reports from Pakistani media, citing security sources, indicated that two children were killed and three others wounded in the blast.
The army statement confirmed damage to nearby residential buildings from the explosion, which also killed one young girl and wounded seven others, including women and children.
In a subsequent retaliatory operation, Pakistani security forces killed 12 TTP members, according to the army.
Pakistani officials have noted a recent increase in attacks on their forces, most of which they attribute to the TTP.
