Pakistan Army Chief Praises 'Ghazab al-Haqq' Operation Against Afghan Terrorists
Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir met with soldiers and officers in Kharam on Saturday during Eid al-Fitr and praised the armed forces' achievements in the 'Ghazab al-Haqq' operation against terrorists in Afghanistan.
Munir stated that Afghan soil should not become a base for terrorists' activities against Pakistan. "We will not allow terrorists operating from their safe havens across the border to undermine the country's security," he said.
The operation, conducted by Pakistan prior to an Eid al-Fitr ceasefire announcement, responded to attacks by the Taliban and Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan. It resulted in the killing of more than 450 militants and the destruction of several important infrastructures in border areas.
Munir also emphasized Pakistan's commitment to regional peace and stability.
Afghanistan witnessed more than 9,800 security incidents in the solar year 1404. According to UN statistics, the Resistance Fronts and Freedom carried out more than 220 attacks against the Taliban, while the Khorasan branch of ISIS claimed responsibility for 14 security incidents.
Reports indicate intensified border conflicts and Pakistan Army airstrikes on Kabul, Kandahar and other parts of Afghanistan over the past year. Statistics show that hundreds of civilians lost their lives in security incidents during the solar year, particularly in border conflicts and Pakistan Army airstrikes.
