Pakistan Claims 641 Taliban Killed in Border Operation; Taliban Rejects Figures

Pakistan's Information Minister claimed that during the military operation "Ghadab al-Haqq" along the Afghanistan border, 641 Taliban members were killed and 855 others wounded.

According to the minister, the operation began last month after Taliban forces allegedly fired from across the border at several points, prompting a Pakistani military response. He stated that 243 Taliban posts were destroyed, and 42 others were captured and then demolished by Pakistani forces. Additionally, 219 Taliban tanks, armored vehicles and artillery pieces were destroyed, the minister said.

The minister also said Pakistan's air force struck several targets inside Afghanistan, hitting 65 locations on Afghan soil.

The clashes between Taliban and Pakistani forces have lasted two weeks. Radio Pakistan, the state broadcaster, reported that Pakistani armed forces continue retaliatory strikes against the Taliban.

The Taliban Ministry of Defense rejected Pakistan's statistics in a statement. Deputy spokesman Sadiqullah Nasrat called the figures "incorrect and baseless," accusing Pakistan of fabricating reports to conceal heavy losses inflicted by Islamic Emirate forces. The ministry claimed 327 Pakistani soldiers have been killed in the clashes so far.
