
Pakistan Claims Destruction of 286 Taliban Outposts, Killing Nearly 800 Fighters
Pakistan's Minister of Information and Media, Ataullah Tarar, stated that Pakistani forces destroyed 286 Taliban outposts, captured 44 and destroyed 249 tanks and equipment. Tarar added that Pakistani airstrikes targeted 81 sites inside Afghanistan, killing nearly 800 Taliban fighters.
Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Taliban, said Pakistan's attacks from February 22 to April 4 killed 761 civilians, wounded 626 others and displaced 27,407 families.
The Taliban has not officially reacted to Pakistan's latest figures. Taliban officials previously claimed to have captured some Pakistani border outposts and destroyed others.
Pakistan resumed its attacks following the Eid al-Fitr ceasefire.
Talks between Taliban and Pakistan representatives, hosted by China, are ongoing in Urumqi. Previous negotiations in Qatar, Riyadh and Istanbul ended without results.
