Petrol, Sugar Prices Rise in Kabul as Gold, Diesel Decline

KABUL (Afghan Verified) -- Petrol prices in Kabul have increased to 64 afghanis per litre from 61 afghanis, according to a worker at the Ahmadyar fuel station.
A 49-kg sack of Indian sugar rose to 3,070 afghanis from 2,800 afghanis at wholesale prices, said Zmarai Safi, a member of the Food Traders’ Association. Kazakh flour for a 49-kg sack fell to 1,460 afghanis from 1,470 afghanis wholesale, while retail prices stood at 1,510 afghanis per sack.
Diesel prices declined to 65 afghanis per litre from 66 afghanis, the fuel station worker said. Liquefied gas prices also decreased, though specific figures were not provided.
Gold prices dropped significantly, with Arabian gold per gram falling to 7,450 afghanis from 8,020 afghanis and Russian gold to 5,950 afghanis from 6,550 afghanis, according to Mohammad Fawad, a jeweller. Haji Mohammad Hussain, another trader, confirmed the declines.
Prices of other essential food items remained stable, with only minor differences between wholesale and retail rates. The US dollar exchanged at 64.10 afghanis, up slightly from 63.60 afghanis, while 1,000 Pakistani rupees held steady at 215 afghanis.
