Prime Minister’s Office Chief Meets Tourism Union to Discuss Licensing and Visa Reforms
Dr. Mullah Abdul Wasay, head of the Office of the Prime Minister, met with officials and members of the National Union of Tourism Companies to discuss administrative and infrastructural measures aimed at developing Afghanistan’s tourism sector. The meeting centered on regulatory reforms, service improvements, and strategies to facilitate international travel.
During the session, union representatives presented a series of proposals to streamline industry operations. They requested a more efficient framework for the distribution and renewal of tourism licenses, alongside sustained inter-departmental coordination to reduce bureaucratic delays. Industry officials also highlighted the need for multilingual informational signage at historical landmarks and recreational sites, and urged the government to establish a dedicated system for issuing online tourist visas.
Addressing the union’s recommendations, Dr. Wasay noted that improved nationwide security and comparatively affordable travel services have contributed to a steady rise in visitor numbers. He acknowledged existing operational gaps within the sector and affirmed that the Islamic Emirate recognizes the challenges faced by tourism operators.
Wasay assured attendees that the submitted proposals would be formally documented and forwarded to the relevant authorities for review and implementation. Both sides agreed to maintain regular communication to monitor progress and address future regulatory needs as the industry continues to expand.
