
Public Works Minister Inspects Asphalt Works of Second Lane of Kabul-Ghazni Highway
Mullah Mohammad Isa Thani, the Minister of Public Works of the Islamic Emirate, has inspected the asphalt works being carried out on three sections of the second lane of the Kabul-Ghazni highway.
The minister urged the officials and contractors to accelerate the pace of the works. He called for strict attention to quality and for the project to be completed on the scheduled time. He further assured the contractors that the budget would be provided to them in a timely fashion so that the work can proceed without interruption.
The highway is 111 kilometers in length and it is divided into five sections. Construction work on the second lane is progressing in the first, third and fourth of these sections.
This project includes the construction of a number of culverts along with large and small bridges. It also involves excavation, leveling and a variety of other engineering structures. All of these works are moving forward rapidly, the ministry said.
The Public Works Ministry has described the Kabul-Ghazni highway as a strategic route. The completion of the second lane is expected to solve many of the travel problems that people currently face on this road. In addition, the project will offer improved facilities for farmers and traders, allowing them to transport their goods and agricultural products with greater ease and efficiency.
