Mullah Mohammad Isa Thani, Minister of Public Works of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, inspected several road reconstruction projects in the southwestern zone. The projects reviewed during the visit included a 50-kilometer section of the North-South Corridor along the Kandahar-Urozgan road.
Another project examined was a 9.3-kilometer road located in Arghandab district of Kandahar. The minister also assessed the first 21-kilometer lot of the Kandahar Bypass ring road.
Survey work on the first lot of the Kandahar Bypass has been completed. Design work for that lot has reached 35 percent completion.
The minister directed project officials to complete the works according to technical standards and the timelines established by the ministry. Officials assured that the projects would meet those requirements.
The projects were contracted by the Ministry of Public Works with the private sector. They are progressing rapidly.
