Rockets From Pakistan Damage Health Center in Afghanistan's Kunar Province
Taliban officials say at least ten rockets fired from Pakistan damaged a health center in Kunar province, destroying key sections including the operating room, laboratory and maternity ward and forcing its closure. The strike forms part of sharply escalating cross-border tensions, with both sides exchanging fire, accusing each other of targeting civilians and China hosting mediation talks that have yet to halt the clashes.

Taliban officials reported that at least ten rockets fired from Pakistan struck a health center in Afghanistan's Kunar province, heavily damaging the facility and disrupting medical services for the local population.
The rockets destroyed key sections of the center including the operating room, laboratory and maternity ward. In addition, medical equipment was also destroyed in the strikes. As a result, the facility was forced to shut down and area residents have been left without local healthcare options, the officials said.
The incident comes as cross-border tensions between Pakistan and the Taliban have escalated sharply in recent weeks. Both sides have been exchanging fire along the border. Each side has accused the other of targeting civilians in the attacks.
Pakistan has not commented directly on the health center attack. However, Pakistani authorities have previously stated that their operations target militant infrastructure with precision and are not aimed at civilian sites.
In a related development, cross-border rocket fire by the Taliban killed at least three people on the Pakistani side of the border, according to Pakistani authorities.
The ongoing tensions include mutual accusations of supporting militants on the other side of the border and violating national sovereignty. China has hosted mediation talks between Pakistan and the Taliban authorities in an effort to stabilize the border region. Despite these talks, the clashes have not been contained.
