Significant Gold Deposits Identified in Panjshir Province's Paryan District

Preliminary surveys have identified significant gold deposits across an approximately 30-kilometer stretch in Paryan district of Panjshir province, initially discovered by local residents.

Mohammad Qasim Amiri, the provincial director of Mines and Petroleum, said the deposits extend from Aab Tal to Marghzar in the district, according to Pajhwok Afghan News. Separately, Radio Television Afghanistan reported the reserves were found in Tel village in the district, referred to as Prian.

Governor Hafiz Mohammad Agha Hakim welcomed the findings and emphasized that extraction must follow legal and standard procedures under the guidance of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum. He stated that unregulated mining activities by more than 300 local workers have been halted until proper, phased mining operations begin.

Both sources confirmed the ban on informal extraction to ensure coordinated and technical development of the site. The discovery has raised hopes for economic benefits in the province, though officials stressed the need for regulated processes to prevent environmental damage and ensure safety.
