Sixth Anniversary of Former TOLOnews Head Mojahid Kakar’s Passing Marked

The sixth anniversary of the passing of Mojahid Kakar, former head of TOLOnews and a prominent figure in Afghan media, was observed on the 15th of Thor. Kakar died in Germany in 1399 at the age of 51 following a prolonged illness. He began his career with the Moby Group in 1383, initially working in news translation before transitioning to broadcasting and hosting political programs. Over more than a decade, he played a central role in shaping the network’s editorial direction and expanding its news coverage.

In 1393, the Free Journalists Center of Afghanistan recognized his work with a Lifetime Achievement in Journalism award. During the anniversary commemoration, Moby Group Chief Operating Officer Mohammad Naim Sarwari highlighted Kakar’s dedication to professional standards and his influence on a new generation of Afghan journalists. Other former colleagues echoed these sentiments, noting his commitment to editorial integrity and his efforts to establish modern journalistic practices in the country.
