Supreme Labor Council Discusses Creating New Job Opportunities Aligned with Market Needs

The press office of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs reported that the Supreme Labor Council meeting addressed reducing unemployment through coordinated programs, creating new job opportunities based on labor market needs, providing employment for returnee migrants, developing production and infrastructure projects, prioritizing local skilled workers over foreign nationals, strengthening coordination between the private sector and government agencies, increasing exports and reducing imports.

Participants included Mullah Sadr A'zam Usmani, deputy for technical and vocational affairs at the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock; Mullah Husamuddin Sabri, deputy for finance and administration at the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum; Mullah Ghulam Saeed Ehsan, administrative deputy at the Technical and Vocational Education Directorate; representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce; and private sector representatives.

Mullah Mohammad Zahed Ahmadzai urged emirate and non-emirate departments to coordinate with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and prioritize hiring returnee migrants based on their available resources.

Representatives from emirate departments and the private sector shared their views and proposals on creating job opportunities for compatriots and assured full cooperation with relevant institutions.

The meeting concluded with a decision to establish a committee under the leadership of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, involving the Ministries of Industry and Commerce, Mines and Petroleum, the Technical and Vocational Education Directorate, and the private sector. The committee will examine new job creation plans, identify returnees, stabilize their skills, link them to the labor market, and create employment opportunities for returnees to ensure coordination and order.
