Tajikistan Sets Quota for 520 Afghan Workers
Tajikistan has established a quota to recruit 520 Afghan migrant workers for the current calendar year, allocating 420 positions to the capital Dushanbe and the remainder to other regions.
Tajik media outlet Kaliber Oz reported on Monday that the government plans to hire a total of 5,500 foreign workers overall. The breakdown includes more than 3,200 positions in Dushanbe, around 1,200 in central administration areas, more than 700 in Sughd province, 310 in Khatlon province and 60 in Badakhshan province.
The quota for Afghan workers forms part of this broader initiative. Tajikistan has not formally recognized the Taliban administration but has begun economic and security-related engagement following a visit last year by the Taliban governor of Balkh province to Dushanbe.
This development signals gradual cooperation on labor migration despite the lack of diplomatic recognition. The specific sectors for the Afghan workers were not detailed in the report.
