
Taliban Arrest Suspicious Individual After Deadly Shooting in Herat's Anjil District
HERAT, Afghanistan (Afghan Verified) -- Taliban security forces arrested a suspicious individual following a shooting by unidentified armed men that killed at least four civilians and wounded more than a dozen others in Anjil district of Herat province on Wednesday.
The attack occurred around 3:00 p.m. local time near a recreational area in Dehmari village by the shrine of Sayed Mohammad Agha, according to Ahmadullah Mutqi, head of the Taliban Information and Culture Department in Herat. Mutqi reported four people killed and 15 wounded, including one child, two women and 12 men.
Abdul Matin Qanie, a spokesman for the Taliban's Interior Ministry, provided slightly differing details, saying seven people were killed and 13 wounded in the Qabarzun village flood-prone area. He added that the attackers arrived on motorcycles.
Taliban officials said efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest other perpetrators.
The incident targeted civilians gathered for recreation, with no group immediately claiming responsibility.
