Taliban officials in Balkh province claimed Pakistani army drones flew over the area and were targeted by their air defense forces.
Hamad Wasal, spokesman for Taliban Corps 209 Al-Fath, said the air defense forces in northern Afghanistan fired at the drones.
Local sources reported a drone strike on the Balkh Corps command in Dehdadi district by an unidentified drone. Details on the extent of damages and casualties were not available.
The incident coincided with the end of a temporary ceasefire between the Taliban and Pakistan on Sunday, marking the conclusion of Eid al-Fitr. The Taliban accused Pakistan of violating the ceasefire, a claim denied by Islamabad.
Pakistan's Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar emphasized the continuation of a "decisive" fight against terrorism, describing attacks on Afghan soil as part of this commitment.
President Asif Ali Zardari called the attacks "effective" and warned that Pakistan would not allow the use of Afghan soil against it.
