Taliban intelligence has carried out the arrest of a man identified as Mohammad Azam Bakhtar Farashghani, who had served as a local police commander in the past. This arrest occurred in Laghman province. The operation was conducted on the basis of explosives, weapons, and ammunition that were found close to his residence. The materials are said to have been placed there beforehand to create a justification for the action taken against him on the third of Cancer.
Once in custody, the former commander was moved to a place that is not known to those close to him. His family members have expressed that they lack any details about where he is or how he is being treated at this time.
The use of planted items such as mines, weapons, and ammunition near the homes of people who worked for the previous government is presented as a recent strategy. Taliban intelligence is reported to be employing this method in arrests and other measures directed at former soldiers and commanders. In the case of Mohammad Azam Bakhtar Farashghani, this is not the first time he has been detained by these forces. He had been held and then freed after serving time in prison during an earlier arrest.
No official statement or comment has come from the Taliban concerning this arrest or the circumstances surrounding it.

Reliability assessment
Single-source reporting based solely on unnamed local sources with no on-record attribution, official confirmation, or independent corroboration from other outlets.
The source language mixes facts with framing or advocacy wording. Afghanistan International: "retaliatory actions", "new methods of the Taliban for retaliatory actions", "trapping them" - these phrases frame the Taliban's actions as deliberate entrapment and revenge rather than legitimate security operations, introducing an opinionated and advocacy tone.
