SHEBERGHAN, Afghanistan — Local sources in Jowzjan province reported that Taliban fighters under the 209 Al-Fath Corps tested air defense systems in Sheberghan on Wednesday, the 5th of Hamal.

The test lasted nearly 20 minutes and caused concern among residents in areas including Eid Mohalla, Khoja Kheyran and Jangal Bagh, according to the sources. Residents expressed worries over the possibility of Pakistani attacks in the province, citing the firings and preparations as heightening tensions.

The Taliban has not provided details on the matter.

The exercise comes amid past Pakistani airstrikes in various Afghan provinces, including Kabul and Nangarhar, which local sources said inflicted heavy damages and resulted in numerous civilian deaths.

Reliability assessment

Single source based entirely on unnamed local sources and residents; provides concrete details (locations, time, duration, unit) but lacks named officials, on-record attribution, or corroboration from additional outlets.

The source language mixes facts with framing or advocacy wording. Hasht-e Subh: "heavy damages" and "killing of a large number of civilians" – these use intensifiers like "heavy" and "large number" to emotionally frame Pakistani airstrikes with advocacy phrasing against them.

Independent web corroboration

An independent web search turned up no separate corroborating reports. Treat the account as single-sourced until more outlets pick it up.
