Trial 5G Telecom Services Launched in Kabul

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has announced the initial experimental launch of fifth-generation telecommunications services in Kabul. The trial marks a step toward modernizing the country’s digital infrastructure and expanding high-speed mobile connectivity.

The announcement was published via an official post on a social media platform by ministry spokesman Enayatullah Alokozay. Officials stated that the testing phase will allow regulators and operators to evaluate network capacity, identify technical requirements, and prepare for a wider commercial deployment.

Following the announcement, Communications Minister Mawlawi Hamdullah Nohmani met with Aliullah Sarwari, the head of the Afghan Wireless Communication Company. The meeting focused on strategies to broaden telecommunications coverage throughout the country. Both sides discussed plans to extend reliable network access to remote and underserved provinces, alongside initiatives to enhance service quality and customer support for mobile users nationwide.

Ministry representatives noted that the introduction of advanced mobile networks is intended to support digital economic growth and improve access to online services. The Afghan Wireless Communication Company will manage the operational aspects of the Kabul trial, with further details regarding coverage areas and public access expected in the coming weeks.
