Turkmenistan Welcomes Reconstruction of Makhtumquli Faraghi Memorial in Mazar-i-Sharif

The Turkmenistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the reconstruction and reopening of the Makhtumquli Faraghi memorial in Mazar-i-Sharif.

The project was carried out by the 'Akiul' cultural organization and its president, Mohammad Hashem Valizadeh, with financial support from Turkmenistan, according to a statement from the ministry.

The ministry's statement highlighted the global cultural importance of Faraghi's literary heritage, noting its role in enriching world culture and fostering a sense of national spirit among youth.

Makhtumquli Faraghi was born in 1102 solar Hijri in Ajigushan village in Iran, northeast of Gombad Kavus. His father was Dolat Mohammad Azadi, and his mother, Arazgul, belonged to the Goklan tribe.

He received his primary education in Persian and Arabic from his father before attending Shir Ghazi school in Khiva. Faraghi later traveled to Bukhara, Afghanistan and India.

He died in 1169 solar Hijri at the foot of Sungy Dag mountain and was buried near Aqtoqa village, 40 km west of Marytepë, beside his father's tomb.
