
Two Afghan Under-18 Athletes Win Bronze Medals at Asian Kurash Championships in Uzbekistan
Two Afghan under-18 athletes won bronze medals at the Asian Kurash Championships held in Urgench, Uzbekistan.
The tournament was the fifth edition of the under-18 championship and was organized in memory of Pahlawan Mahmoud Khwarazmi. It featured competitors from several countries.
Abdul Maroof Mohsini claimed bronze in the 55kg category after receiving a first-round bye and then defeating a South Korean opponent.
Rohullah Nazari won the second bronze medal by defeating a Kazakh opponent.
Afghanistan fielded three athletes in the competition. The two medals represent the successes achieved by the Afghan participants at the event.
The results from Urgench highlight the performance of the young Afghan athletes on a continental stage. Mohsini and Nazari both delivered strong showings in their respective matches to secure third-place finishes.
The championships provided an opportunity for under-18 athletes to compete against regional peers. Afghanistan's participation with three athletes and return with two bronze medals marks a notable outcome from the tournament.
These bronze medals add to the achievements recorded by Afghan sports representatives in the competition held to honor Pahlawan Mahmoud Khwarazmi. The event drew athletes from multiple nations to Uzbekistan for the multi-day championships.
