Woman Shot Dead in Kabul While Heading to Court Over Family Dispute
A woman identified as Badriya was shot and killed in the Khair Khana district of Kabul while traveling to a Taliban court. The victim, originally from Badakhshan province, was reportedly involved in ongoing legal proceedings concerning a dispute with her ex-husband, Abdul Matin Edrak, as well as a separate conflict with her maternal aunt’s son.
Following the shooting, authorities transferred the victim’s body to a forensic facility for examination. Security forces also detained her defense lawyer and summoned several of her relatives for questioning. The circumstances surrounding the attack remain under investigation, with no immediate claim of responsibility reported by any group.
The incident follows a separate violent episode in Logar province, where four members of a single family were killed by unidentified assailants in the provincial center one day earlier. Local authorities have not released further details regarding the Logar case or the identities of those involved.
The Taliban administration has not issued an official statement regarding the Kabul shooting or the subsequent detention of the victim’s legal representative. Court operations in the capital continue under the current judicial framework, though specific details regarding the victim’s pending case have not been publicly disclosed by officials.
