Work Begins on Asqalan-Dasht Archi 220 kV Power Transmission Line in Kunduz

Work has officially begun on the expansion of the Asqalan-Dasht Archi 220 kV power transmission line in northern Afghanistan.

Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar, Executive Director of the Afghanistan Electricity Company, inaugurated the project in a ceremony.

The transmission line will run for nearly 45 kilometers from the Asqalan sub-station in Kunduz city to a new sub-station to be built in Dasht Archi district. The project is valued at around 535 million Afghanis and will be carried out by three contracting companies.

In his remarks at the event, Hamkar discussed self-reliance and the development projects underway under the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

The Governor of Kunduz, Maulvi Nasrullah Mutie, attended the inauguration ceremony. Mutie said that developmental projects are necessary and thanked the Afghanistan Electricity Company.

When finished, the power line is expected to supply electricity to tens of thousands of consumers in the region. The project is also expected to create jobs.

This initiative is part of broader efforts under the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to strengthen the electricity network and support the country's development.

Local leaders welcomed the start of the project, viewing it as an important step for the province.
