The body of a young man, identified as Mohammad Shahzad Niazi, was discovered on May 10 in the Hodkhil area of eastern Kabul. The discovery followed an 11-day period during which the victim was missing, having disappeared on April 29 while on his way to school.

Juma Gul Niazi, the father of the victim, had publicized the disappearance of his son via Facebook in an effort to locate him.

The victim was subjected to severe torture prior to his death. Reports indicate that the torture included the removal of skin from his face, the removal of his eyes, and the mutilation of his genitals.

Additionally, the beheaded body of a child was discovered in the Nawabad area of Kunar province. This incident has been reported alongside a broader increase in child disappearances occurring across various Afghan provinces.

Reliability assessment

The report provides concrete, checkable details including the name of the victim (Mohammad Shahzad Niazi), the name of a specific complainant (Juma Gul Niazi), a specific public platform for the report (Facebook), and specific locations (Hodkhil, Nawabad). Per the guidelines, single-source stories with strong, named attribution and concrete details are rated as reliable.

The source language mixes facts with framing or advocacy wording. Hasht-e Subh: "Alleged Taliban Security" suggests a skeptical value judgment regarding the legitimacy of the security situation; "brutally murdered" and "slaughtered body" use emotionally loaded descriptors to frame the violence.
